Children’s Liturgy of the Word - Kidz Word

Kidz Word is our special liturgy for children, celebrated during school terms at both parish churches. It offers all children an opportunity to engage with God’s Word in a way that is fun, creative, and age-appropriate.

  • St Gerard’s, Carlingford

    • When: Sundays during the 9:30am Mass (except Family Kidz Mass days)

    • Where: Parish Meeting Room

    • What to Expect: After the opening greeting, children join our leaders for a liturgy that mirrors the adult celebration but is tailored for kids. Activities may include Gospel videos, role play, music, craft, and more. Children return for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

  • Our Lady Help of Christians, Epping

    • When: Sundays during the 10:15am Mass

    • Where: Parish Hall

    • What to Expect: Same engaging format as Carlingford. Once a month, children also help with the Offertory and lead the Prayers of the Faithful.

Family Kidz Mass

Once a month at St Gerard’s (9:30am Mass), children take an active role in the liturgy leading prayers, singing in the choir, and presenting the gifts. It’s a joyful celebration of faith and community growth. At OLHC, on some Sundays of the year, OLHC School students lead the prayers at the 8:30am Mass, which is organised by the school.

Special Celebrations

  • Christmas Eve Vigil Mass: A family-focused celebration with children participating in the liturgy.

  • Easter Sunday Mass: Includes an Easter egg hunt and morning tea after.

  • Family Fun Festivities: This may coincide with a Saint's Feast Day or celebrating the children's enrolment in the sacramental programme. Activities may include morning tea after Mass, face painting, dressups, sausage sizzle, jumping castle, etc.

Our Parish Playgroup - KidzPlay

All pre-school children and their carers are welcome to join in the fun: learning, playing, singing, dancing, and making new friends. We love early learning opportunities and creating joyful memories! Help us spread the word to families in the community.
